Calendar

The members of the Oroville Piecemakers Quilt Guild meet on the third Thursday of the month. Visitors are welcome! (Visiting opportunity quilts are welcome too -- please see our calendars at the bottom of the page for available time slots.)

The day group meets at 10am (doors open at 9am) in the Palermo Grange, at 7600 Irwin Avenue, Palermo, CA.  The Moonlighters' evening group meets at 6pm (doors open at 4pm) in the Trinity Presbyterian Church, 2350 Foothill Blvd, Oroville, CA, 95966.  In addition, we have regularly-scheduled "Sew Days" on the first Thursday of the month at the Palermo Grange.  Currently, these "Sew Days" are free to members, unless we have a visiting teacher presenting a workshop (as noted below).

Thursday, January 16th

DAY GROUP  Our first speaker of 2020 is sewist and Quiltworx instructor Victoria Johnson (www.quiltworx.com/instructors/victoria-johnson). Victoria will share a trunk show that perhaps will cover her early days in sewing (clothes, uphostry, and even tent making!) as well as her foray into paper piecing quilts in the intricate style that Quiltworx' Judy Niemeyer is well know for. Doors open at 9am for pre-meeting activities and socializing; the meeting starts at 10am.  Don't forget to bring your finished Victorian Christmas quilt top, money for the fun door prize baskets, and a red striped, plaid or dotted fat quarter for the January raffle!

EVENING GROUP  Doors open at 4pm for the Moonlighters social gathering and potluck dinner; see Mary Kaye for a reminder of what you signed up to bring.  Bring your show-and-tell quilts (including the Victorian Christmas BOM project from 2019), a fat quarter for the exchange (January is red batiks), and money for the door prize baskets!

Thursday, February 6th

At our first workshop of the year, member Jeri Huey will be teaching us how to make the iron caddies we have so long admired.  Doors open at 8:30am for set-up, and class will begin at 9am.  Please contact Nancy Kennedy (679-2762) to sign up and receive a supply list.

Thursday, February 20th

DAY GROUP Our February speaker is Jeri Huey, who will entertain and inspre us with a trunk show of her beautiful quilts. Doors open at 9am for pre-meeting activities and socializing; the meeting starts at 10am.  Don't forget to bring your show-and-tell projects, BOM, money for the door prize baskets, and a green fat quarter (patterned or batik) for the February fabric raffle!

EVENING GROUP  Doors open at 4pm for socializing and potluck dinner; the Moonlighters meeting starts around 6pm.  Marla Vaughn and Claudia Goebl will be there to help those working on the Star BOM and table runners (Table Runner Club).  Bring your machnes, fabrics and sewing notions if you'd like to participate prior to the meeting. Also, bring your show-and-tell quilts, a fat quarter for the exchange (February is green batiks), your completed BOM if you are participating and money for the door prize baskets!

DAY GROUP  The program at our April guild meeting will be Cindy Carroll from Elk Grove CA.  Cindy is a certified Studio 180 instructor, and will share with us how the Studio 180 Design tools add accuracy while also making quilting easier and more fun! Doors open at 9am for pre-meeting activities and socializing; the meeting starts at 10am. Don't forget to bring your show-and-tell projects, BOM, money for the door prize baskets, and a yellow or floral fat quarter for the April fabric raffle!

Kids' Quilt Camp!  Our guild members will be introducing the process of quilting to a set of children age 10-11.  Details to follow.

No workshop in July, but hopefully everyone will attend the Oroville Community Concert Band's performance at the State Theater on Saturday July 4th at 7pm.

The July Board meeting has been cancelled so board members can attend the annual Linda Ballard retreat.  See you in August!

DAY GROUP  The July meeting will be held inm the new (air conditioned) Grange building, and our speaker for July will be Carrie Fondi (Reno, NV).  Carrie will be sharing the history of Hawaiian quilts.  Doors open at 9am for pre-meeting activities and socializing; the meeting starts at 10am.  Don't forget to bring your show-and-tell projects, BOM, money for the door prize baskets, and a fat quarter that is picnic-themed for the July fabric raffle!

DAY GROUP Our speaker at the September guild meeting is Ingrid Cattaneo (Grass Valley, CA). She will be presenting a trunk show, and talking about the "art of fabric collage." 

Doors open at 9am for pre-meeting activities and socializing; the meeting starts at 10am.  Don't forget to bring your show-and-tell projects, BOM, money forthe door prize baskets, and an orange print for the fat quarter raffle!

EVENING GROUP  Doors open at 4:30pm so yuo can get sewing, followed by a potluck dinner and the Moonlighters' meeting. You'll want to bring money for the various door prizes, a fat quarter for the exchange (September is yellow batiks), and any show-and-tell you have to share!

Thursday-Saturday, October 1st-3rd

October will be an Angel Retreat! Come ready to finish those projects before our quilt show in early November.  In addition, Deby will be on site both Thursday and Friday for sewing machine tune-ups.  If you want to treat your machine to a little TLC, please ask Sharon Helton (743-7465) for a time slot.

Thursday, December 3rd

Per usual, there is no workshop in December.  Instead, please join us for the annual Budget Planning Meeting -- you can be a part of deciding what we will be doing as a guild in 2021!  The meeting will be held in the conference room at the Oroville branch of the Butte County Library (1820 Mitchell Avenue) and will start at 9am -- not 9:30am -- so we have PLENTY OF TIME to get through the budget details and negotiations.  You know you want to come...

Thursday, December 10th

2020 Holiday Party!!!  Details to follow, but expect our Holiday Party to be all the comaraderie, games, gifts, and delicious potluck dishes that you know and love from previous years.  (Sign up lists will undoubtedly show up come fall, but why wait to start thinkling about what special dish YOU will bring to celebrate another fantastic year in OPQG...)

Thursday, December 17th

The Moonlighters will be having their Holiday Party the evening of the third Thursday of the month.  Please contact Mary Kaye about what to bring for the potluck!  And you will want to bring that newly completed PUP to show off, to rave reviews and acclaim.
