The day group meets at 10am (doors open at 9am) in the Palermo Grange, at 7600 Irwin Avenue, Palermo, CA.  The Moonlighters' evening group meets at 6pm (doors open at 4pm) in the Trinity Presbyterian Church, 2350 Foothill Blvd, Oroville, CA, 95966.  In addition, we have regularly-scheduled "Sew Days" on the first Thursday of the month at the Palermo Grange.  Currently, these "Sew Days" are free to members, unless we have a visiting teacher presenting a workshop (as noted below).

    2019 Calendar of Events
Date  Description

Thursday-Saturday, January 3rd-5th

We are starting the new year off with three days of community service sewing, specifically to make quilts for the Camp Fire survivors.  We have lots of new (donated as well as purchased) fabrics to cut into -- now is the time to try out that new pattern!  Or pull a book from the library for inspiration.  Please bring a pot luck lunch dish to share, and a big smile for your newly minted President.

Thursday, January 10th

Board meeting starts at 9am, in the meeting room at the Oroville branch of the Butte County Library (1820 Mitchell Avenue).

Thursday, January 17th

DAY GROUP  Our first speaker of 2019 is Jennifer Rapacki, who hails from Denver CO (www.jenniferrapacki.com).  Her talk is titled "Creativity Unleashed: Modern technology for quilters."  Doors open at 9am for pre-meeting activities and socializing; the meeting starts at 10am.  The January WORKSHOP will be held after the general meeting, during which Jennifer will teach us how to make a "woven background" to add visual interest to our quilts (for examples, click HERE).  The workshop is open to paid attendees only; please contact Linda Pearson (531-8448) to sign up and receive a supply list.  No potluck this time; we will be brown-bagging it, so we can get to sewing sooner. Savy members may note that the woven background made in this class would make an excellent base for the applique project being taught in February -- and will want to choose colors appropriate for their project.

EVENING GROUP  Doors open at 4pm for the Moonlighters social gathering and potluck dinner; see Sandi for a reminder of what you signed up to bring.  Jeri Huey will present a trunk show of her quilts, from her early days as a new quilter to recently completed projects.  Bring your show-and-tell quilts, a fat quarter for the exchange (January is blue batiks), as well as all of the quilting toys you received for the holidays!

Thursday, February 7th

Our second workshop of 2019 will be a "Lilac" applique project taught by Donna Greenwald; for a picture of the project (copied from her website), click HERE.  Doors open at 8:30am for set-up, and class will begin at 9am. The workshop is open to paid attendees only; please contact Linda Pearson (531-8448) to sign up and receive a supply list. As noted above, members who participated in the January workshop may want to use their woven background in this class.

Thursday,  February 14th

Board meeting is CANCELLED.  Instead, there may (or may not) be a committee meeting regarding Community Service.  Please contact Jan Owens (589-9139) to confirm.  Meeting would start at 9:30am (changed from 9am), in the meeting room at the Oroville branch of the Butte County Library (1820 Mitchell Avenue).

Thursday, February 21

DAY GROUP Our February speaker is Donna Greenwald of Chico, CA (www.donnagreenwald.com).  Donna will be sharing many of her beautiful art quilts and discussing how quilters of any experience level can use her clever fabric art and design techniques to unlock their inner artist and create their own individual fiber art masterpieces. Doors open at 9am for pre-meeting activities and socializing; the meeting starts at 10am.  Don't forget to bring your BOM, money for Cheryl Cox's fun door prize baskets, and a red dotted or patterned fat quarter for the February fabric raffle!

EVENING GROUP  The Moonlighters have an ambitious line-up of projects planned for the coming year; there is sure to be something of interest if you are looking for some quilting inspiration.  We will be sewing at the February gathering, so bring your sewing machine and be ready to start stitching; Claudia handed out cutting instructions (HERE) for the first of four Table Runner Sew Evening projects. Dorothy Moyle-Smith is coordinating the "Vintage Christmas" challenge; bring your two finished blocks assigned at the previous meeting to show.  Moonlighters' Chair Susan will be presenting instructions for her "Candy Challenge." And finally, anyone wanting to participate in the PUP ("poor unfinished project") challenge, bring three UFOs for the membership to "help" you choose which gets attention this year.  It is going to be an exciting evening you won't want to miss! Don't forget to bring money for the various door prizes, a fat quarter for the exchange (February is pink batiks), and any show-and-tell you have to share.  Doors open at 4pm for socializing and potluck dinner; the Moonlighters meeting starts around 6pm.  Call Sandi for a reminder of what you signed up to bring

Doors open at 4:30pm for socializing followed by a potluck dinner; the Moonlighters meeting starts around 6pm. You'll also want to bring money for the various door prizes, a fat quarter for the exchange (June is "any color you choose" batiks), and any show-and-tell you have to share!

You'll want to bring money for the various door prizes, a fat quarter for the exchange (November is autumn batiks) and any show-and-tell you have to share.

Thursday, December 5th
