    2018 Calendar of Events
Date  Description

Thursday, January 4th

Our first Open Sew Day of 2018 is here!  What a great way to start the year. Per usual, the doors open at 8am to set up your machines and get sewing...

No Board Meeting for January

Thursday, January 18th

DAY GROUP  Our first speaker of 2018 is Sherry Werum from Woodland, CA. She will be presenting a program titled  “Art Nouveau: A Reflection in Quilt Art from 1870-1915”.  Sherry has been teaching for 10+ years, lecturing for 6 years, and is accompanied by her husband, who plays a hand-carved mandolin during the program.  What a treat! If you will remember, she was supposed to speak in February 2017, but had to be rescheduled due to the spillway-related evacuations. During her visit, we will also have the opportunity to admire (and purchase) some of the quilting tools that Sherry finds particularly useful in her quilting. Doors open at 9am for pre-meeting activities and socializing; the meeting starts at 10am.  Bring your January BOM, as well as a first "row" or "center block" if you are planning to participate in the Take a Chance challenge.

EVENING GROUP  Doors open at 4:30pm for the Moonlighters social gathering and potluck dinner; the meeting starts around 6pm. Bring your January BOM, your show-and-tell quilts, as well as all of the quilting toys you received for the holidays!

Thursday, February 1st to Saturday,  February 3rd

Our first THREE DAY SEWING RETREAT of 2018!  Doors open at 8am on Thursday Feb 1st to set up your machine -- and your sewing area can stay set up for all three days!  Imagine the slicing, piecing, un-sewing, re-sewing, sandwiching, quilting and/or binding you can complete without all of the distractions at home...

In addition, Deby will be onsite on Friday for sewing machine tune-ups.  If you want to treat your machine to a little TLC, please ask Sharon Helton (743-7465) for a time slot.  Otherwise, bring a covered dish to share, and come enjoy the creative vibes and companionship at our first retreat of the year.

Board meeting starts at 9am, in the meeting room at the Oroville branch of the Butte County Library (1820 Mitchell Avenue).
